Description
This Taylor AD12e Tobacco Sunburst acoustic-electric guitar features a comfortable Grand Concert body shape with a solid Sitka spruce top, adorned with a gorgeous Tobacco Sunburst. It's braced with Taylor's V-Class bracing that optimizes the response of an acoustic guitar by boosting volume and sustain, and resolving the intonation issues that have long plagued acoustic guitars. Other notable appointments include a solid walnut back and sides, easy-playing mahogany neck, chamfered body edges, eucalyptus fingerboard and bridge, a super thin matte finish, tortoise pickguard, Taylor's ES2 Electronic System and a Taylor AeroCase for maximum protection and portability.
Slightly smaller that the Grand Auditorium body shape, this Grand Concert yields controlled overtones and its compactness blends with the slightly condensed fret spacing of the 24-7/8" scale length. With the bridge's position near the center of the lower bout, Taylor's Grand Concert guitars are easy to play and have a surprising amount of tonal power and midrange warmth. A Sitka spruce top blends the right amount of stiffness and elasticity to create a broad, dynamic range with crisp articulation. Walnut produces a clear, woody voice with a splash of top-end sparkle and a bit more tonal support in the lower register. The combination of the Sitka and walnut creates a tone that will ring out with a pleasing weight behind it.
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylors ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylors patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly whether playing acoustically or plugged-in. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured. Together with Taylors custom-designed professional audio-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, and active bass and treble controls.
Taylor's V-Class bracing is essentially a "sonic engine," creating purer, more orderly notes that don't cancel each other out or sound off. They have clearer, more consistent response, and the whole fretboard is brought into greater sonic alignment for a more musical playing/listening experience.
