Description
The left-handed Academy 12e acoustic-electric represents Taylor's effort to support the development of the entry-level guitar player. The Academy 12 was designed to offer enough immediate gratification to encourage a new player to keep playing with a comfortable feel, rewarding sound and the ability to cover a broad range of musical styles. The Academy 12e is built with a grand concert body intended as a fingerstyle guitar with the added benefit of a more compact body size for extra playing comfort. The wood pairing is a solid spruce top with layered sapele back and sides, and genuine African ebony is used for the fingerboard and bridge, just as with all other Taylor models. To enhance the handfeel and overall playability for entry-level players, Taylor chose a 24-7/8" scale length with a 1-11/16" nut width. This lefty Academy 12e also includes Taylor's ES-B system, which incorporates piezo design elements from the flagship Taylor ES2 system. Powered by a 9V battery, its onboard preamp includes a built-in digital chromatic tuner, an LED display for tuning and low battery indication and a tone-sculpting 3-band EQ.
