Description

The Taylor Builder's Edition 912ce acoustic-electric guitar joins the ultra-premium collection created by master designer Andy Powers. First debuting in 2018, Powers' Builder's Edition models offer the most player-friendly experience in both sound and feel. Packed with an array of attractive playing features that Guitar Center customers crave, the 912ce is the quintessential electric player's acoustic guitar.

Taylor Builder's Edition 912ce Main Features

Solid torrefied Sitka spruce top and solid torrefied Indian rosewood back and sides
24-7/8" scale tropical mahogany neck, 18-fret genuine West African ebony fingerboard and bridge and a beveled cutaway
Gotoh 21:1 antique gold tuners with gold buttons, Taylor Expression System 2 Professional Audio-Grade pickup design and V-Class bracing system
Silent satin-finished body and satin-finished neck

Compelling Tonewood Pairing

A guitar's top has a huge impact on its sound. Lutz spruce is a naturally occurring hybrid of Sitka and white spruce. Among the tonewoods commonly used for guitars, rosewood produces the strongest bass response. Its sweeping frequency range rings out with bell-like, high-fidelity clarity. Rosewood yields a full-range acoustic voice with complex overtones and extended sustain. When you pair Lutz with the Indian rosewood back and sides, it produces one of the most popular tonewoods around.

Body Shape and Cutaway Designed for Ultimate Comfort

For the 912ce, Powers chose Taylor's slightly shallower Grand Concert body. This body shape delivers Taylor's most direct, focused and balanced response. It yields controlled overtones, meaning your sound won't occupy a lot of sonic space. When you're in the studio or performing live, you'll be able to hear your sound clearly among the other instruments in the mix. Additionally, the intimate size of this guitar makes it perfect to play on the couch or in your lap. Players who find smaller instruments more physically comfortable will find this 12-fret guitar a great choice. Though it's small in size, the 912ce offers a surprising tonal power, midrange warmth and vibrancy. This is attributed to the bridge's position near the center of the lower bout. The design is physically efficient, giving it a strong projection. Additionally, Taylor incorporated the comfortable rolled fretboard edges first introduced on the Grand Pacific and a beveled armrest and cutaway for ultimate playability. The shorter 24-7/8" scale length also makes for a comfortable, slightly compact feel. Together, these features make the 912ce an ultra-comfortable acoustic that handles exceptionally well for fretting. It produces a precise, high-fidelity, super-fast response, making it an ideal acoustic for electric players.

Premium Features of the Taylor 900 Series

The Builder's Edition 912ce sounds and feels as good as it looks, drawing from Taylor’s 900 Series ornamentation. With features such as paua purfling in the top and back, a koa fretboard, and peghead trim, the 912ce has all the aesthetically pleasing features of luxurious 900 Series guitars. Other special features include a paua abalone rosette with ebony and koa accents, and a new Bellefleur fretboard/peghead inlay in mother-of-pearl and pink abalone.

Taylor ES2 Electronics and V-Class Bracing

Two signature elements of the Taylor Builder's Edition collection are the revolutionary Expression System 2 pickup design and V-Class bracing system. The crux of Taylor's ES2 pickup design is its patented behind-the-saddle pickup. This pickup design features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. With this design, the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle. Because of that, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge. This full contact allows all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly, whether you're playing acoustically or plugged-in. Paired with Taylor's custom professional audio-grade preamp, this pickup system is designed to produce great amplified tone and responsiveness.

Taylor debuted its V-Class bracing with the first line of Builder's Edition guitars in 2018. V-Class bracing is essentially a "sonic engine" that optimizes the response of an acoustic guitar in three important ways: boosting volume, sustain, and intonation. Guitars with Taylor’s V-Class bracing system are also easier to tune. With V-Class bracing, you'll get more pure and orderly notes that don't cancel each other out or sound off
All in all, the Taylor Builder's Edition 912ce features a rich and articulate acoustic voice that quickly enunciates every nuance of a player's performance across the entire register.

About the Taylor Builder's Edition Collection

Each model in Taylor's Builder's Edition line is essentially Powers' "director's cut." Powers was able to apply refined craftsmanship details that aren't typically offered on standard Taylor models. Each model showcases the highest levels of Taylor guitar design innovation. In essence, the Builder's Edition is an ultra-premium class of guitars offering the most player-friendly experience in both sound and feel.

With the introduction of the 2020 Builder's Edition models, Powers' line grows to four different body styles and nine total models—each boasting their own dramatically different musical personality.
