Description
Gibson Acoustic is proud to offer the Elvis Dove, an acoustic-electric guitar modeled after Elvis Presley's customized 1969 Gibson Dove. Given to Elvis by his father, Vernon, in 1969, the King played this guitar regularly in concert from 1971 to 1975. Now guitarists everywhere can experience the tone and styling of a legend.
Crafted From Premium Tonewoods
The Elvis Dove features a solid Sitka spruce top and flame maple back and sides, yielding a bold yet crisp acoustic tone. The spruce top provides articulate highs and tight bass, while the maple back and sides add warmth, depth and projection. Together, these tonewoods capture the full, resonant tone that the King favored.
State-of-the-Art Electronics for Powerful Amplification
With LR Baggs's VTC pickup system, including an under-saddle piezo transducer and soundhole-mounted preamp, the Elvis Dove is ready to rock any stage. The VTC system delivers the guitar's natural acoustic tone through amplification with excellent dynamics and a full frequency range. Simply plug in and experience the same powerful, compelling tone that Elvis shared with millions of fans.
Built to the King's Specifications
Modeled after Elvis's customized 1969 Dove, the Elvis Dove embodies the styling of a legend. With its ebony finish, mother-of-pearl dove inlays and gold-plated Grover tuners, this guitar drips with flair. Beneath the flashy exterior, however, lies a square-shoulder dreadnought acoustic with peerless tone and projection, just as the King intended.
Superior Playability and Craftsmanship
As with all Gibson acoustics, the Elvis Dove receives a Plek-assisted setup for low, buzz-free action, spot-on intonation and a perfectly playable neck. Built from the finest materials by expert luthiers, this guitar sounds, plays and looks as good as it did when Elvis himself performed with it onstage. Experience a legend reborn in the Elvis Dove.
